With its accession to the European Union in 2004 Slovenia became eligible for drawing on the EU structural funds and the Cohesion Fund.

Cohesion Fund

Cohesion Fund helps the Member States the gross national income is lower than 90% EU average.

European Social Fund

European Social Fund improves employment and employability in the European Union.

European Regional Development Fund

European Regional Development Fund strengthens the economic and social cohesion in the European Union by levelling regional imbalances.

Technical Assistance

Technical assistance includes support activities which are necessary for a successful implementation of operational programmes in the Republic of Slovenia.

Structural funds and the Cohesion Fund are part of the European Union Regional Policy. The purpose of the funds is to reduce the disparities between regions regarding income and opportunities. The majority of the funds are meant for the less developed European regions but all the regions are eligible to the funds from different programmes.
