Ljubljana, 26 November 2015 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion, acting as the Managing Authority for European Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund, approved the project “Renovation and rearrangement of premises and supply of technical equipment for ecophysiology and environmental protection” worth EUR 615 thousand. The project will be co-financed by European Regional Development Fund under the 2017-2013 programming period in the amount of nearly EUR 500 thousand.
The project implemented by the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia will cover renovation of premises on the 1st floor of the central laboratory, and supply of high-tech research equipment which will raise the technological level of experimental and research work. In addition to improving organisation, efficiency and quality of lab work, the renovated premises will facilitate carrying out complex research and tasks in the field of ecophysiology and environmental protection, in particular in genetics, plant physiology and plant production. This will enhance the quality of scientific and research achievements, establish comparable conditions for the implementation of research projects, improve the supportive environment for the economy and thus enhance its competitiveness.
New equipment will establish the basic conditions for the development of new technologies and for establishing even closer cooperation between researchers and knowledge users which will strengthen the transfer of knowledge from the academic sphere to public, private and non-profit sector, and promote taking an interdisciplinary approach to research.
