Ljubljana, 24 November 2015 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, acting as the Managing Authority for European Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund, approved the project “Purchase and renovation of the ground floors of the building Galeb – research activity UP IAM – UP FAMNIT” worth over EUR 668 thousand. 2007-2013 European Regional Development Fund contribution amounts to approximately EUR 562 thousand.
The project covers purchasing ground floors of the building Galeb in the street Kettejeva ulica 1, and its renovation to enable efficient and functional provision of primary activities of the Andrej Marušič Institute (IAM) of University of Primorska and partially also research activities of the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies of University of Primorska.
The purchased new building which will be functionally renovated and equipped with new high-tech research equipment will raise the technological level of quality of experimental and research work. In addition to improving organisation and quality of lab work, the investment will also enable modernising the existing research methods and introducing new methods of research which will, inter alia, raise the level of quality of scientific and research achievements and enhance cooperation between researchers and knowledge users. This will strengthen transfer of knowledge from the academic sphere to the public profit and non-profit sector as well as promote taking an interdisciplinary approach to research.
