510 thousand euros of EU funds for enhancing language competences of minority languages
Ljubljana, 12 November 2013 – Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, acting as the Managing Authority for the EU structural funds and the Cohesion Fund, approved the project “Enhancing language competences of educational faculty of minority languages in the Italian schools in Slovenia and Slovenian or bilingual schools in Italy” and the project “Enhancing language competences of educational faculty of minority languages in bilingual educational institutes in Prekmurje and Porabje”. The project focuses on the establishment of partnerships and cooperation among the participating schools and universities in Slovenia and Italy or Hungary. The European Social Fund contribution amounts to 510,000 euros.
The aim of the project “Enhancing language competences of educational faculty of minority languages in the Italian schools in Slovenia and Slovenian or bilingual schools in Italy” is to establish partnerships and cooperation among the participating Italian schools from Slovenia and Slovenian schools from Italy, namely is the area of expertise as well as the subject area with universities in Italy and Slovenia. In the framework of the project, the participating teachers will acquire new knowledge and tools which are related also to the use of various teaching aids which will help them form new teaching methods. Emphasis is given mainly to the training of teachers and the development of their language and didactical skills as well as the new strategy in teaching in bilingual areas with the help of information-communication technologies.
The aim of the project “Enhancing language competences of educational faculty of minority languages in bilingual educational institutes in Prekmurje and Porabje” is to provide for the childcare workers and teachers as well as the management staff of bilingual educational institutes in Prekmurje and Porabje the possibilities of minority language training and the modernisation of the educational system in bilingual educational institutes. The project will contribute to greater complementarity among the bilingual educational organisations in Porabje and Prekmurje, to overcoming the stereotypes among the members of the majority and minority population and raising awareness on the significance of the Hungarian and Slovenian language and culture. The main objective of the project is to raise the level of language competences of educational faculty of minority languages in bilingual educational institutes in Prekmurje and Porabje, including the related competitiveness of the knowledge of children visiting the bilingual educational institutes. This will also enhance the quality and efficiency of the educational systems, mainly teaching of the Hungarian and Slovenian language as a minority language in Prekmurje and Porabje.
Each project is worth 300,000 euros. For each project the European Social Fund will contribute 85% or 255,000 euros.
