Ljubljana, 10 October 2013 – Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, acting as the Managing Authority for the EU structural funds and the Cohesion Fund, approved the project “Mentoring the Young” which is targeted at first job seekers aged up to 30 years. The objective of the programme is contributing to the greater employability and competitiveness of the younger and older workers, namely through intergenerational transfer of knowledge. The overall value of the grant, allocated to the programme by the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, amounts to 3.4 million euros of which the European Social Fund contribution amounts to 2.9 million euros.
The programme will encourage employers to transfer knowledge to the newly-employed young persons which will contribute to gaining practical working experiences and concrete skills that the young can acquire in their work through the assistance of a mentor. Emphasis will be given to the intergenerational transfer of knowledge and experiences. The programmes focus also on the training of mentors and the activities on awareness-raising of the employers on the importance of planned training of the newly-employed. The programme also aims at including 500 young persons, half of whom are women, first job seekers aged up to 30 years.
