EU funds for Bohinjka Information Centre

Ljubljana, 14 October 2013 – Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, acting as the Managing Authority for EU structural funds and the Cohesion Fund, issued a decision awarding EU funds for the Bohinjka Information Centre. The realisation of the project, which is worth 1.4 million euros – of which the European Regional Development Fund contribution amounts to 900,000 euros, will bring the importance and values of the most important and largest protected area in Slovenia closer to tourists, visitors and local inhabitants.

The project aims to establish a public information and education centre for the Bohinj area of the Triglav National Park, which is located in the inadequately exploited area and facilities, namely by July 2015. The Bohinjka Information Centre in Stara Fužina will contribute to the strengthening of the value added and employment rate in tourism and related service companies. It will also be possible to extend the season and preserve the length of stay of tourists by offering specialized programmes in the field of nature conservation and tourism education.

The realization of the investments will contribute to the preservation and integration of natural potentials for the development of tourism and recreation as well as the promotion of the local economy.
