Ljubljana, 27 November 2015 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, acting as the Managing Authority for European Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund, approved the call for proposals “First employment in education and schooling” which was published today by Ministry of Education, Science and Sport. The aim of the call for proposals is targeted and fast activation of youth in terms of their transition from the education system to employment, namely by providing relevant practical training-related content and providing guidance by trained teachers which will establish long-term impacts. Up to EUR 5,400,000 will be available under the call for proposals with a segment of the funds being contributed by the European Union under European Social Funds under the 2014-2020 programming period.
The call for proposals will finance employment incentives for first-time job seekers in the field of education and schooling. Through planned, organised and professionally-guided practical training teachers and childcare workers-beginners will be introduced to education and schooling in schools and kindergartens in cooperation with trained teachers and childcare workers who are in the final year before their planned retirement. Teachers-beginners will thus obtain experience in teaching and schooling necessary to obtain professional qualification; after passing their certification exam they will conclude a full-time employment contract for the post they trained for and which became vacant after the retirement of an experienced teacher.
The objective of the call for proposals is to employ 300 teachers-beginners – 126 in the cohesion region Vzhodna Slovenija and 174 in the cohesion region Zahodna Slovenija – for a period of nine months for a project-related teacher or a childcare worker post in kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools and institutes for education of children and youth with special needs.
For youth aged up to 29 the call for proposals will speed up access to high-quality employment and thus enhance the share of employed youth who participate in labour market measures. The aim is to keep the youth participating in the programme employed also after programme closure.
