EU funds for Murska Sobota Emergency Centre

Ljubljana, 21 May 2013 – The Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, acting as the Managing Authority for the EU structural funds and the Cohesion Fund, issued a decision awarding EU funds for the Murska Sobota Emergency Centre. The construction of the emergency centre will enhance the efficiency, improve the accessibility and raise the level of expertise of the non-stop emergency medical service in the Pomurje region. The overall value of the project amounts to 6.3 million Euros of which the European Regional Development Fund contribution amounts to approximately 3.7 million Euros.

The project includes the implementation of construction, finishing and installation works and the purchase of the needed equipment for the new emergency centre. The investment will be implemented partially as a reconstruction of the existing facility, partially as a new construction, namely of the extension of the primary facility of the Murska Sobota General Hospital which represents the main part of the project.

The main purpose of the new emergency centre is to provide modern conditions for emergency medical assistance in the area of the Pomurje region, including the merger of the primary and hospital emergency service in a single location. This will ensure better medical treatment of patients in a single location and drastically improve the possibilities of better diagnostic and therapeutic treatment. The speed and efficiency of treating emergency cases in the Pomurje region will increase, and adequate cooperation with other emergency centres of higher level of expertise will be ensured.

You can find more information about the project at the Ministry of Health which is responsible for the implementation of the project.
