EU funds for new investments in business-to-business education centres

Ljubljana, 17 July 2013 – Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, acting as the Managing Authority for the EU structural funds and the Cohesion Fund, approved the public call for proposals to finance investments in business-to-business education centres. The public call for proposals was published by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport. The framework amount of funds, meant for the co-financing of investments in construction, renovation and purchase of technological equipment for education and training in the business-to-business education centres, is 1,524,000.00 Euros. The European Regional Development Fund contribution amounts to 85% of the value or a little under 1.3 million Euros.    

Business-to-business education centres represent the supporting environment to perform tasks in the field of vocational, technical and higher education. They carry out practical trainings with work, prepare candidates for a master, foreman, management or final exams, vocational baccalaureate and confirm national vocational qualifications. They also provide the infrastructure for training and support to small and medium-sized enterprises that are associated with public education network. They provide the conditions for training of unemployed and disadvantaged in the labour market, while also creating conditions for further education and training for employees.  

The objective of the public call for proposals is to improve the quality and effectiveness of education and training for pupils and other interested public. Among other things, the public call for proposals will also contribute to strengthening the recruitment of different specialists and the establishment of the infrastructure conditions for a stimulating educational environment. This will allow for lifelong learning and creating synergies of integrating the economic and educational spheres, which will, among other things, also affect the competitiveness of the Slovenian economy.
