Ljubljana, 11 July 2012 – Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, as the Managing Authority for the EU structural funds and the Cohesion Fund, issued a decision confirming the public call for proposals to co-finance the project Knowledge for the future. The purpose of the project is to create the conditions to strengthen the excellence of knowledge of secondary school pupils by cooperation between the scientists and the youth who want to strengthen their knowledge in a certain field in the framework of project or research papers implemented by secondary schools. The project will be co-financed by the European Social Fund.
The objective of the project is to develop research papers in the preparation of which scientists (mentors), who participate in the establishment of new knowledge, and secondary schools will participate. This would promote the inclusion of youth and their innovative approaches to the solution of concrete development issues.
The overall value of the grants for the implementation of the project in 2012, 2013, and 2014, amounts to 700,000. Euros out of which the European Social Funds contribution represents 85 percent of the project value, i.e. 595,000.00 Euros, and the national budget contribution represents 15 percent of the project value, i.e. 105,000.00 Euros.
The public call for proposals, with which the mentioned project will be co-financed, will be implemented in the framework of the Operational Programme for Human Resources Development for the period 2007–2013, priority axis “Development of Human Resources and life-long learning”, main type of activity “Improve the quality and effectiveness of education and training systems”.
The implementation of the project is in the responsibility of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports which will also publish the public call for proposals.
