Ljubljana, 2 August 2013 – Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, acting as the Managing Authority for the EU structural funds and the Cohesion Fund, issued a decision awarding EU funds for the water supply project in Zgornja Sava river area – 3rd set. The value of the project, which is foreseen to be finished by the end of 2015, is estimated at 11.1 million Euros. The project will be co-financed under the Cohesion Fund in the overall amount of 6.5 million Euros.
The project includes the investments in water systems with the construction of the water distribution system Bašelj – Kranj with the reservoir and the facility of ultra-filtration and water distribution system Zadraga – Naklo. From the water sources in the municipality of Tržič this distribution system will provide water for the municipality of Naklo and the reserve source for the water system Kranj.
With the construction of the reservoir and the protection of the water source Bašelj, the water system Bašelj – Kranj will include the construction of the main water supply network in the overall length of 9,823 metres and the water system Zadraga – Naklo will include the construction of the water supply network in the overall length of 6,882 metres. The project will thus realise the construction of 16,705 metres of water supply system.
The project of water supply in Zgornja Sava river area – 3rd set, which includes the catchment area of the water system Kranj and water system Kovor – Naklo, will, among other things, also contribute to the improvement of the living conditions, reduce drinking water loss and its protection. The mentioned systems provide drinking water to over 51 thousand inhabitants:
The funds of the Operational Programme for the Development of the Environmental and Transport Infrastructure for the period 2007-2013, which is worth the 1.57 billion Euros, are primarily meant for the modernisation or construction of new infrastructure in the field of environment and transport. The smaller share of these funds is also meant for the projects in the field of sustainable energy use.
