MEDT approved the Public call for proposals for the establishment of new creative centres
Ljubljana, 27 September 2012 – Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, as the Managing Authority for the EU structural funds and the Cohesion Fund, approved the Public call for proposals for the establishment of new creative centres. The overall value of the grant, which will be awarded by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport in the period 2012–2015 for the implementation of the public call for proposals, is 4,000,000 Euros. European Regional Development Fund contribution amounts to 3,400,000 Euros.
The purpose of the public call for proposals is to establish new creative centres which operate within research organisations, with the potential to ensure polycentric development. The co-financed projects will contribute to greater research competitiveness and the opportunities for development of regions as well as the establishment of inter-institutional cooperation with the educational institutions and the economy. It will also enable the establishment of the needed critical mass for efficient cooperation in the international environment (e.g. the international excellence network) and strengthen interdisciplinary centres.
The subject of the public call for proposals is the co-financing of activities, including:
- management or development of creative centres
- research-development work of researchers
- improvement of the conditions for research work (e.g. purchasing research equipment, concluding agreements to use the equipment and other research organisations)
- implementation of research-development projects for breakthrough or individual research institutions
One of the central objectives of the public call for proposals is connecting the higher educational establishments with the regional environment. Special attention will be given to supporting the scientific-research work, connection and establishment of the critical mass of the well trained employees in the Slovenian regions for the needs of economic development and competitiveness and the promotion of technological and non-technological potentials of the educational-research organisations.
The public call for proposals, which will be published by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, is implemented in the framework of the Operational Programme for Strengthening Regional Development Potentials for the period 2007–2013, priority axis “Competitiveness and research excellence”, main type of activity “Encouraging competitive potential of enterprises and research excellence”.
