Ljubljana, 10 August 2015 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, acting as the Managing Authority for European Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund, issued the first two decisions awarding financial support to projects under the 2014-2020 programming period, namely for the investment “Municipal wastewater collection and treatment in the area Domžale – Kamnik” and “Drinking water supply in the area Domžale – Kamnik” amounting to over EUR 50 million of which the Cohesion Fund support amounts to a little under EUR 31 million.
The project “Municipal wastewater collection and treatment in the area Domžale – Kamnik” is worth EUR 39 million and covers the investments in the field of wastewater collection and treatment in the municipalities Cerklje na Gorenjskem, Domžale, Kamnik, Komenda, Mengeš and Trzin. The project will cover the construction of a sewage system in the total length of 47,167 metres, the construction of 21 wastewater pumping stations with the upgrading of the central wastewater treatment plant which will have the capacity of 149,000 population equivalents with a new biological line and the introduction of a tertiary level of wastewater treatment. The abovementioned actions will establish the adequate infrastructure for municipal wastewater collection and treatment and reduce environmental impact. Cohesion Fund contribution is estimated at a little less than EUR 24 million.
The project “Drinking water supply in the area Domžale –Kamnik” covers the construction of the water supply system Vrhpolje – Šmartno and the facilities of the water supply network in the valley Tuhinjska dolina. The project also covers the water supply network in the southern part of the water supply system Kamnik, as well as the upgrading of the water supply system Domžale and the attached water supply system Mengeš. The project overall result is the construction of 30,180 m of water pipelines, 10 pumping stations and 5 water reservoirs. The project is worth over EUR 11 million and will enable connecting approximately 38,000 inhabitants to the public drinking water supply system as well as contribute to reducing water losses and improving the quality of drinking water supply and living conditions for the inhabitants. Cohesion Fund contribution is estimated at a little less than EUR 7 million.
