The project was nominated by Mojca Čemas Stjepanovič: ‘’This project fulfils our wish and idea of showcasing more than a 3000-year-old rich tradition of the town of Črnomelj and restoring a cultural monument.’’
The project funding supported the restoration of a badly damaged building in the old town centre of Črnomelj - the birthplace of Slovenian poet and writer Miran Jarc dating back to 1847. Phased restoration works consisted of a number of interventions, ranging from initial archaeological research, restoration, conservation and restoration of 19th-century mural paintings to the setting up of a permanent museum collection dubbed ’’Črnomelj through the Millenia’’ which takes the visitors through a 3,200 year-old history of the town of Črnomelj. The museum has become a cultural hotspot showcasing compelling past of the town to both the locals and the visitors.
