Ljubljana, 9 September 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved EU funding for the project Hydraulic balancing of the water supply system Hubelj-Skuk. The project is the latest in a series of similar projects that aim to ensure safer and more reliable supply of quality drinking water to Slovenian citizens, this time to nearly 17,000 residents in Municipality Ajdovščina.
As a result of the water supply project that will be supported by the Cohesion Fund and co-financed by the state, the network supplying drinking water to nearly 17,000 residents will meet higher water quality and safety standards. The number of residents that will be newly connected to the public system will increase by 400. The newly constructed 17-kilometer long section will include three new water storage tanks, four pumping stations and five structures intended for pressure management and control. The project is considered to be one of the largest investments in the said municipality. It will kick off this fall and its completion is scheduled for the end of 2023.
In total, EUR 194.2 million in EU funds have been invested in the construction and reconstruction of water supply systems across the country in the programming period 2014-2020.
