Ljubljana, 7 May 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved EU funding for the project “Drinking water supply in the Dravinja River basin – lot 4 – the Ormož area”. The project worth EUR 8.4 million will be implemented by the municipality Ormož, municipality Središče ob Dravi and municipality Sveti Tomaž in the framework of the Agreement on the Development of the Podravje Region and will receive a good EUR 4 million of Cohesion Fund support.
As part of the project, the municipalities Ormož, Središče ob Dravi and Sveti Tomaž will improve the public drinking water supply service for users connected to the Ormož water supply system and reduce the amount of water lost through the distribution system. The project will result in hydraulic improvement of 25 kilometres of pipelines, construction of a new water reservoir with six water reservoirs and pumping stations also being reconstructed.
11,869 inhabitants of the municipality Ormož, 1,871 inhabitants of the municipality Središče ob Dravi and 1,864 inhabitants of the municipality Sveti Tomaž will benefit from the improved drinking water supply. 14 residents who have thus far supplied water from their own wells will now be connected to the public water supply network.
