Ljubljana, 1 June 2018 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, the Managing Authority for ERDF, ESF and Cohesion Fund, issued a grant decision for the project ‘’Development of coastal green infrastructure (park and recreation space)’’. The project is worth EUR 1.27 million, and the contribution from the ERDF stands at a little under EUR 738,000.
The project includes the development of an open space area as part of the Sustainable Urban Strategy of the City of Koper. Through this project, the City Municipality of Koper aims to rehabilitate and redevelop the south-western part of the degraded coastal area stretching along the Semedela promenade which lies between the nearby harbour, the canal Grande and the Piranska cesta road. The project pursues open space development through the design of park and recreation space, and the construction of a service building in the area. The aim of the project is to improve the urban environment through the rehabilitation of the degraded area covering some 12,280m2.
