Ljubljana, 6 June 2018 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, the Managing Authority for ERDF, ESF and Cohesion Fund, issued a grant decision for the call for proposals ‘’Extending working life and reducing work absence in cohesion region Vzhodna Slovenija’’. The call for proposals makes over EUR 3.3 million available, of which a little less than EUR 2.7 million comes from the European Social Fund.
The call for proposals tackles the issue of work absence and aims to reduce the length of absence from work in Vzhodna Slovenija-based companies taking part in the project. This EU-supported project has been designed to deliver solutions in the area of active and healthy ageing at work, particularly of workers over 45. While some of the solutions, i.e. design and roll out of a comprehensive business model for managing older workers, will target employers, others, i.e. development of a set of recommendations/guidelines on potential legislative changes and implementation of systemic measures addressing the relevant dimensions of healthy and active ageing, will be meant for policy makers. Additionally, the project aims to establish a strategic e-platform for managing an ageing workforce.
The objective of the call for proposals is to develop a comprehensive approach and design systematic activities seeking to bring down absence from work due to illness, injury or stress, promote measures that facilitate return to work for workers after long-term sickness absence, design job assignments and workplace to adjust jobs to the capabilities of older workers, increase the share of people in work, particularly of those over 45, encourage and promote workplace health promotion activities, implement measures for workers to better reconcile work and family life, reduce early retirement, break down prejudice and stereotypes about older workers among Slovenians, raise awareness and inform about the importance of active and healthy ageing, improve ageing workforce management, and foster measures for intergenerational cooperation at workplace.
