Ljubljana, 5 June 2018 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, the Managing Authority for ERDF, ESF and Cohesion Fund, issued a grant decision for the project ‘’Community-based approach to health enhancement and reduction of health inequalities’’. The project, which is estimated at nearly EUR 3 million, will receive EUR 2.4 million from the European Social Fund.
The project has been designed to prevent falling into poverty and social exclusion and to reduce health inequalities that persist at the community level. It will strongly underpin the project ‘’Upgrade and development of prevention programmes’’, and will be implemented in 25 community health centres and respective local communities. The project will allow for quality, coordinated and efficient implementation of the project ‘’Upgrade and development of prevention programmes’’, and will aim to provide continuous guidance, direction, support and advice on organisation and content-related aspects, as well as monitoring and oversight of activities in community health centres and local communities. Additionally, a series of expert training events will be delivered for the network of providers of prevention programmes for all population groups, and the experts from the Health Ministry and the National Institute of Public Health as part of the project. The concept of systemic support that will come from community-based approach will help enhance inter-sectoral action and will bring together key stakeholders at the national, regional and local level encouraging them to work together for the benefit of all.
