Ljubljana, 14 October 2020 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a grant decision for the project “Wastewater discharge and treatment in the Kolpa river basin – Municipality Črnomelj”. Total project funding amounts to nearly EUR 3.6 million of which a little less than EUR 1.6 million is Cohesion Fund contribution. Cohesion Fund support has recently also been awarded to Municipality Metlika for wastewater discharge and treatment in the Kolpa river basin.
By implementing the abovementioned project Municipality Črnomelj aims to improve wastewater discharge and treatment in the municipality as well as reduce emissions of urban wastewater into the subsoil and the Dobličica and Lahinja watercourse. The goal of the project is to protect the environment from urban wastewater by constructing and modernising the faecal sewerage in certain streets and in the Črnomelj agglomeration as well as to connect these sections to the wastewater treatment plant.
The project also covers extending the sewerage system in the Municipality Črnomelj which will improve connection to the public sewerage network raising it from 88.70% to 98.00%. In individual streets nearly 6 kilometres of sewerage will be constructed as a result of the investment. After project completion over 200 buildings and more than 600 inhabitants will be newly connected.
