Ljubljana, 18 September 2015 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, the Managing Authority for European Structural and Investment Funds, has approved the project Additional areas for programmes implemented by the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Architecture of the University of Maribor. The project worth EUR 1.9 million will receive a good EUR 572 thousand of European Regional Development Fund support under the 2007-2014 European Cohesion Policy. Currently, the Faculty’s research activity is limited due to insufficient capacities. This is why the project focuses on providing new areas at the Krekova 2 Street in Maribor stretching over 2,342.90 m2 as well as ensuring the equipment needed for implementing programmes, in particular for research and development activities of the Faculty and its institutes. The new premises will provide multipurpose areas used by the students for study programmes (architecture) and the cooperation of the Faculty with the economy (knowledge transfer and cooperation with the economic sector in the field of research). The project will contribute to improving the conditions for implementing the Faculty’s research activity, provide new employment opportunities and also contribute to enhancing studies.
