Ljubljana, 11 January 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a funding decision for the project Wastewater collection and treatment in the Sava River basin – Municipality Trbovlje. This EUR 863,000 environmental infrastructure development project which will be implemented by the Municipality Trbovlje will receive a contribution from the Cohesion Fund amounting to nearly 400,000 euros.
As part of the Agreement on the development of the Zasavje region, the project includes the development of wastewater collection and treatment infrastructure in the municipality which will collect urban wastewater from across the municipality and feed it to the treatment plant. The project will result in a newly constructed 2.2-kilometre long sewerage system and a pumping station. The project's overall goal is to reduce water pollution; this will in turn result in better drinking water sources and improved health of rivers.
