Ljubljana, 30 October 2020 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a funding decision for the project Wastewater collection and treatment in the Savinja River basin – municipalities Celje, Štore, Vojnik. The project, which will be implemented by Urban Municipality Celje, Municipality Štore and Municipality Vojnik, is worth a total of 11.1 million euros and will receive a contribution from the European Regional Development Fund amounting to over 4.7 million euros.
The municipal environmental infrastructure project which is included in the Agreement on the development of Savinja region aims to ensure wastewater treatment to remove contaminants and produce effluent that is safe enough for release into the environment so as to reduce water pollution and improve quality of water and natural habitats.
The joint municipal project includes the construction of a 26,760-meter long sewage system with 16 pumping stations. Over 2,000 residents will be connected to the public sewage system with a wastewater treatment plant once the project is completed.
