Ljubljana, 15 June 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved EU funding for the project COVID19 – Integrated energy-saving renovation of the Hospital building of the University Medical Centre Ljubljana. Total project value of EUR 50 million will be covered by the European Regional Development Fund under the React-EU initiative. The project, implemented by the Ministry of Health, is already the sixth project financed by the React-EU grants under the NextGenerationEU recovery plan.
The project that will result in improved conditions for patients of the University Medical Centre Ljubljana focuses on implementing an integrated energy-saving renovation of two buildings of the University Medical Centre, located on the Zaloška cesta 9 Street in Ljubljana, namely the main building (hospital) as well as the old part of the building for diagnostic and therapeutic services. The energy-saving renovation will cover thermal insulation of the façade, flat roof and the floors of the unheated attic. The investment will also result in modernising the system for heating, cooling, ventilation and air conditioning, in modernising the lighting and replacing joinery. Lifts will be upgraded with frequency electric motors and a central control system, with organisational measures also being set up. 74,894.15 square metres of net floor area will also be renovated.
This is already the sixth project funded by the React-EU initiative in the last months. In February 2021 Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy issued a decision on European Regional Development Fund support in the amount of EUR 3.6 million for the project COVID19 – Relocation of the Department for Pulmonary Diseases to University Medical Centre Maribor, in March 2021 a decision on European Regional Development Fund support in the amount of EUR 4.5 million for the project COVID19 – Arrangement of premises for additional capacity of the Ljubljana Nursing Hospital, in the beginning of May 2021 EUR 1.5 million for the project COVID19 – IT support for making an appointment (to be vaccinated) at primary level, at the end of May 2021 EUR 93 million for the Call for proposals co-financing investment in infrastructure strengthening the resilience of institutional care providers, taking into account deinstitutionalisation, and on 14 June 2021 EUR 30 million for call for proposals Incentives for digital transformation of SMEs (P4D React EU).
