Investment cycle further supports Slovenia's health system: EU funding for energy renovation of Ljubljana Intermediate Care Department

Ljubljana, 1 April 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a funding decision for the project Energy renovation of Ljubljana Intermediate Care Department. The EUR 3.3 million project will be implemented by the Ministry of Health and supported by the EU, with the contribution from the Cohesion Fund standing at EUR 1 million. This is already the second award of EU funding for Ljubljana Intermediate Care Department in a month.

As part of the project, the building located at Vrazov trg square 1 will undergo energy efficient renovation. In detail, works will include installation of thermal insulation on the basement floor and attic floor of the unheated attic of hospital wings A, B and C, as well as installation of thermal insulations on roof terraces and flat roofs of hospital wings A, B and D. Similarly, basement walls and ground floor walls as well as pitched roof, roof terrace or flat roofs above the heated part of hospital wing D will be thermally insulated. In addition, lighting will be retrofitted, reversible heat pumps installed, and air conditioning and mechanical ventilation systems installed and connected to the central control and energy monitoring system. The new direct digital control solutions employed will ensure that the hospital is fitted with a building automation and control system.
