Ljubljana, 9 July 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved EU funding for the project Improving access to products and services with a EU Disability Card. The EUR 400,000 project will be implemented by the National Council of Disabled Persons' Organisations of Slovenia together with the Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia and supported by the EU, with the contribution from the European Social Fund standing at EUR 320,000.

The National Council of Disabled Persons' Organisations of Slovenia has partnered up with the Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia to upgrade and establish a dedicated website and a mobile app for the EU Disability Card in line with a set of recommendations under the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) which will make the website www.invalidska-kartica.si and the mobile app with the same name more accessible to people with disabilities.

As part of the project, project partners intend to increase the number of organisations providing specific services (including commercial ones) as well as the number of holders of the EU Disability Card which will be available for free and issued at the administrative units. Unemployed holders of the EU Disability Card will be entitled, among others, to free travel on buses and trains across the country.

The project aims to foster social inclusion of persons with a disability status as it greatly improves accessibility of products and services for them.
