Minister for Development and European Cohesion Policy dr Aleksander Jevšek attended the cross-border economic forum of entrepreneurs in Lenti, Hungary, where he met with his Hungarian colleague Tibor Navracsics.
Today’s event is an opportunity to strengthen and perhaps establish new ties within the cross-border area,” underlined Minister Jevšek in his introductory speech.
He said that several European programmes cover the cross-border area, namely the cross-border programme Slovenia-Hungary and two transnational programmes Interreg Danube and Interreg Central Europe, which serve as a platform for cross-border cooperation and integration.
The new European Cohesion Policy programming period offers unique opportunities for enterprises, said Minister Jevšek “Interreg programme thematic areas most interesting for enterprises are digitalisation, innovation, green transition, smart society and sound management.”
Hungarian Minister Tibor Navracsics said, “Cross-border cooperation enriches the Prekmurje and Porabje area. Such meetings are important not only for exchanging views between our countries but also for building friendships.” He also underlined the relevance of cross-border economic cooperation and the cooperation of the countries of Central Europe and European Union Member States in keeping the peace in Europe.
