Ljubljana, 31 May 2022 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved EU funding for the project Purchase of research equipment NIB. The European Regional Development Fund-supported project strengthens national research capacities and links between the national research organisations, and promotes relations with the international research organisations and the economic sector.
In the frame of the co-financed project, the National Institute of Biology (NIB) will establish a biotechnological hub by purchasing new research equipment that will upgrade the existing research infrastructure in the field of S4 – biotechnology, biomedicine and biological resources, analytical capacity, safe and healthy food, and environmental science. The project will improve the research capacity to tap the development potential of the National Institute of Biology – in the national and the international environment – and enhance the support to the economy. The economic sector will play an important role in developing research infrastructure, especially in terms of how the industry uses the said infrastructure. This will speed up the development and direct cooperation with research organisations. The project thus pursues a horizontal objective targeting international competitiveness of research, innovation and technological development in line with the S4 thematic areas.
