Ljubljana, 26 May 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved funding for the project ITI Arrangement of cycling connections in Urban Municipality Murska Sobota – Phase 2 – Cohesion Fund. The project implemented by the Urban Municipality Murska Sobota is worth EUR 1.3 million with the Cohesion Fund contribution standing at EUR 601 thousand.
As part of the project, Urban Municipality Murska Sobota will first restructure the existing cycling connections, footpaths and the road on the Koroška ulica Street. After that, the municipality will develop a new cycling connection on the Ulica arhitekta Novaka Street. The new 2.3-kilometres long cycling route will connect the Kroška ulica Street with the Cankarjeva ulica Street, Slomškova ulica Street, Zvezna ulica Street and the Slovenska ulica Street with the Ulica arhitekta Novaka Street. The project will also result in the arrangement of 1180 metres of pavements and cycling routes of which 960 metres will run along the Kroška ulica Street and 220 metres along the Ulica arhitekta Novaka Street.
The investment promotes sustainable mobility and physical activity of the inhabitants. The project will also result in reducing emission in the municipality and other negative impacts of motorised traffic.
