Ljubljana, 27 December 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved EU funding for the project COVID-19 – Arrangement of the building of the Institute of Occupational Safety of the University Medical Centre Ljubljana. The project, implemented by the Ministry of Health, will result in adequate equipment of the existing building of the former Institute of Occupational Safety of the University Medical Centre Ljubljana and will receive European Regional Development Fund support under the React-EU instrument.
As part of the project, the Ministry of Health will renovate and adequately equip the building of the former Institute of Occupational Safety of the University Medical Centre Ljubljana which will be dedicated entirely to healthcare activities and will be suitable for performing the work of certain specialised laboratories of clinical internal organisational units of the University Medical Centre Ljubljana. This will address the issue of lack of space. The purpose of the investment is to reduce the risk of transmitting COVID-19 to other patients of the Emergency Unit as well as to prevent related health complications and poorer treatment outcomes. With the renovation, University Medical Centre Ljubljana will acquire approximately 2,900 net square metres of renovated space that will include 11 additional rooms for COVID-19 patients.
With this investment, the Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy is continuing with the goal of giving EU funding back to the people, also through establishing appropriate healthcare infrastructure and improving healthcare.
