Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved EU funds for the project COVID19 – Arrangement of an intermediate care department of Murska SObota General Hospital. The project worth EUR 8.9 million will be implemented by the Ministry of Health and will receive EUR 5 million of European Regional Development Fund contribution under the React-EU initiative. This year Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has already approved EUR 71 million to help strengthen Slovenia’s healthcare system.
As part of the project, the Ministry of Health will substantively increase the number of available beds in the Murska Sobota General Hospital which will thus be equipped to admit patients who require prolonged hospitalisation and non-acute care. The said investment will also improve the conditions and success rate of hospitalisation as well as establish adequate conditions for palliative care by also ensuring a safe working environment for the staff.
This year, Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has already approved EUR 71 under the React-EU initiative to strengthen Slovenia’s healthcare system, namely 6 out of 11 investments, supported by the React-EU initiative, aim to improve Slovenia’s healthcare system. In addition to the React-EU funding approved for intermediate care department of Murska Sobota General Hospital, our Government Office has approved in the beginning of October 2021 EUR 6.8 million for intermediate care department of the University Medical Centre Maribor, in February 2021 EUR 3.6 million for relocating the Department of Pulmonary Diseases to University Medical Centre Maribor, in March 2021 EUR 4.5 million for acquiring additional space for the Ljubljana intermediate care department, in the beginning of May 2021 EUR 1.5 million for setting up an IT-supported scheduling system for making vaccination appointments at primary level, and in June 2021 EUR 50 million for energy-saving renovation of the buildings of the University Medical Centre Ljubljana.
We thus continue with our goal of giving EU funding back to the people, also through establishing appropriate healthcare infrastructure an improving healthcare.
