The project “Promoting Sustainable Mobility and Urban Settlement of the Mežiška dolina Valley” aimed to raise awareness and inform the wider population about the positive impacts of regular physical activity and the relevance of a healthy lifestyle. The project aimed to improve the lifestyle and the quality of life for the inhabitants of the Mežiška dolina valley, promote energy efficient-traffic, contribute to a healthier and cleaner environment, support recreational and excursion tourism, and made a significant impact on reducing health risk factors.

The project was implemented by the Mežiška dolina valley Local Action Group which designed numerous activities in the municipalities of the Koroška region, namely:

  • upgrading the already set up stops in Ravne na Koroškem
  • setting up self-service bicycle repair stations
  • setting up a pump-track in Javornik in Ravne na Koroškem
  • purchasing an electric vehicle for Ravne na Koroškem and the nearby area to be used by elderly and people with disabilities
  • mobile app – navigation for cyclists for following the cycling path in urban settlements in the municipality Ravne na Koroškem
  • setting up an automated system for renting electric bicycles in the centre of Prevalje
  • setting up four overarching roofs and purchasing city bicycles for rent in Črna na Koroškem and Žerjav
