Biosistemika d.o.o. is a leading company in software development for laboratories operating in the field of life sciences. They provide services for the global market, primarily the US and Europe. Their biggest competitive advantage is the integration of biological knowledge with IT knowledge.
The team consists of members who have been or are still involved in life science research. They work with customers on the one hand and with software developers on the other, all the while making sure that everyone involved has an in-depth understanding of how the software will be used by the client. Such a system ensures top quality of the delivered products. The company covers all steps of the software development lifecycle: developing specifications, coding, testing, and maintenance. The company cooperates with leading companies in the Life Science industry such as Gilson Inc., Agilent, Roche, 4titude and many others.
The company Biosistemika d.o.o. has been successful in using EU funding for the development of the company. “Co-financing of projects plays a key role in project implementation and in general enables our company to constantly innovate and remain competitive in the global market.”
As part of the co-financed project DNA DATA STORAGE the company developed an innovative system for the conversion and storage of digital data into a biological medium, namely deoxyribonucleic acid or DNA molecule. As a carrier of hereditary information, DNA is the oldest and most optimised natural medium for data storage and serves as a medium for the transfer of genetic information in nature. With the technology developed, the company successfully wrote the word “BIOSYSTEMICS” into DNA and patented the technology.
The company was awarded funding under the call for proposals “Supplementing the sme instrument - Phase 2”, namely for the development of a digital electronic diary (ELN) for the management, automation, acceleration and recording of the results of laboratory analyses for the purposes of molecular diagnostics. ELN brings, in addition to the obvious advantages in the speed and quality of research, also a novelty in the form of research standardisation. This will provide the conditions for improving the reproducibility of experimental results and their reuse, which is currently a pressing issue in science.
The company’s participation in the 2018 BIO International Convention, which took place in Boston, USA, from 4 June to 7 June 2018, was also financially supported. The company presented its own BioSistemika brand, PlatR product and development services software. The company estimates that the convention was one of the most successful thus far as they established numerous contacts and received many positive opinions and responses to their products.
Through the Slovene Enterprise Fund, the company also received a microloan in the amount of EUR 25,000 from the Fund of Funds managed by SID Bank.
