Public voting held under the fifth edition of the EU Project, My Project campaign which highlights EU-funded projects in Slovenia has ended. Nearly 42,000 votes came in between 1 and 15 April for over 60 projects that will open their doors to visitors during the EU Project, My Project campaign in May. The winner of the public vote - Enhance Health for All - received nearly 15,000 votes, while the majority of votes, i.e. 653, under the Rural Development Programme went to the project Open Doors Day at the Flis Farm - Where cows milk themselves.
The project Enhance Health for All focuses on supporting the upgrade and development of prevention programmes for all population groups and includes a total of 25 community health centres from across Slovenia. EU contribution to the project stands at EUR 9 million. Health professionals from community health centres and health enhancement centres work together with members of local community to design and implement an array of measures to encourage a healthy lifestyle among community residents. With support from the Ministry of Health and the National Institute of Public Health that implement a complementary project called MoST: Community-based approach to health enhancement and reduction of health inequalities in local community settings which aims to provide professional support to design of prevention programmes, both projects seek to make preventive services more accessible, more affordable, more targeted and tuned in to the needs of users to ensure healthy communities.
15 health enhancement centres have joined the EU Project, My Project campaign for the first time this year. Over 100 events taking place between 11 and 18 May at more than 50 venues across Slovenia will mark this year’s campaign. The events will include a number of interesting workshops for all generations, healthy eating and living classes, career workshops, food tastings, site visits, interactive exhibitions, theatre plays, hiking, sports activities and other fun activities catering to the needs of visitors from all walks of life. These events will allow Slovenian citizens to find out for themselves how the EU budget has been spent on over 10,000 projects that helped improve their daily lives over the past decade and a half.
Big thank you to everybody who participated in the vote, and of course, congratulations to the winners! We look forward to seeing the EU Project, My Project campaign grow further with all the interesting events!
