Ljubljana, 5 April 2017 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, Managing Authority for ESI Funds, issues grant decision for the project Wastewater Collection and Treatment in the Upper Sava River Basin and in the Kranj and Sora Fields – Stage 2 (Phase 2). The project is worth EUR 16.6 million and is set to receive EUR 5.6 million from the Cohesion Fund.
The goal of this environmental project is to deliver wastewater collection and treatment infrastructure in the village of Mlaka pri Kranju and in the section Britof – Predoslje in the Urban Municipality of Kranj. Once completed, the project is to provide that at least 95 % of the population is connected to the integrated sewer system which feeds wastewater in the central wastewater treatment plant located in Kranj. The project also includes the construction of about 17 kilometres of sewers and five pumping stations that are to be connected to the existing system and wastewater treatment plant in Kranj. This infrastructure endowment will also include water distribution system rehabilitation and retrofit and construction of storm sewers and public lighting. All in all, the project seeks to upgrade public utility infrastructure while curbing emissions into water.
