Ljubljana, 11 June 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved EU funding for the project Reconstruction of the section Cerknica-Bloška Polica. The EUR 3.6 million reconstruction project will be implemented by the Slovenian Infrastructure Agency under the Agreement on the development of the Primorsko-Notranjska region and will be supported by the EU with the contribution from the European Regional Development Fund standing at over EUR 2.5 million.
As part of the project, the Slovenian Infrastructure Agency intends to reconstruct a 2.12-kilometre long section of the state road between Cerknica and Bloška Polica. A two way 2.5-metre wide cycling route will be constructed along the section as well. In addition, works will include road drainage measures, construction of retaining walls as support structures and installation of new traffic signals.
The overarching goal of the project is to significantly improve transport links in the region, as well as to improve road safety and shorten travel times, while reducing travels costs and negative environmental impacts of motorised road traffic.
