V Železnikih so se lotili oživljanja osrednjih trgov starega mestnega jedra, in sicer trg pred plavžem in Plac pred cerkvijo sv. Antona, s katerimi so dali mestu nov zagon. Na obeh trgih so uredili meteorno kanalizacijo, vodovod, javno razsvetljavo, zelene površine, novo tlakovanje in postavitev urbane opreme. Trg pred plavžem je sedaj namenjen raznim prireditvam, sicer pa deluje kot mestni trg s panoji s predstavitvijo kraja.

The project was nominated by Jerneja Klemenčič Lotrič: ‘’Restored town squares are a perfect venue for relaxation (lawn, fountain, benches) and are used for community gatherings (events).’’
The town of Železniki saw its two central squares in the old town centre restored and revived. The square in front of the blast furnace, a unique technical monument, and the square in front of the Church of Saint Anthony have been fully retrofit to sport a fresh new look. Works on both squares included rainwater management, installation of water supply pipes and public lighting, as well as landscaping works, including planting, paving and setting up of urban furniture. The square facing the blast furnace is now used to accommodate various events and is the main town square featuring information boards that acquaint the reader with basic facts and figures about the town and region.
